A modem, short for Modulator-Demodulator, converts digital data from a computer into analog signals suitable for transmission over telephone lines and vice versa. It enables internet connectivity by facilitating communication between the local network and the internet.
LAN (Local Area Network) connects devices over a small geographical area, typically within a single building. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) covers a larger area, such as a city, while WAN (Wide Area Network) spans broad geographic areas, connecting multiple LANs and MANs across countries or continents.
