दीर्घ सन्धि: अ + अ = आ

When two short 'अ' vowels come together, they combine to form a long 'आ'. Example: नर + इन्द्र = नरेन्द्र.

गुण सन्धि: अ/आ + इ/ई = ए

The combination of 'अ' or 'आ' with 'इ' or 'ई' results in 'ए'. Example: देव + इन्द्र = देवेन्द्र.

वृद्धि सन्धि: अ/आ + ए/ऐ = ऐ

The combination of 'अ' or 'आ' with 'ए' or 'ऐ' results in 'ऐ'. Example: एक + एक = एकैक.

यण सन्धि: इ/ई + अ/आ = य

The combination of 'इ' or 'ई' with 'अ' or 'आ' results in 'य'. Example: इति + आदि = इत्यादि.

अयादि सन्धि: ए/ऐ/ओ/औ + अ/आ = अय्/आय्/अव्/आव्

The combination of 'ए', 'ऐ', 'ओ', or 'औ' with 'अ' or 'आ' results in 'अय्', 'आय्', 'अव्', or 'आव्'. Example: ने + अन = नयन.

पूर्वरूप सन्धि: ए/ओ + अ = पूर्वरूप

The combination of 'ए' or 'ओ' with 'अ' results in the preceding vowel. Example: गङ्गा + अम्ब = गङ्गाम्ब.

व्यंजन सन्धि: त् + स = च्

The combination of 'त्' with 'स' results in 'च्'. Example: उत् + सव = उच्चव.

विसर्ग सन्धि: : + श/ष/स = श/ष/स

The combination of 'विसर्ग' with 'श', 'ष', or 'स' results in the same consonant. Example: तपः + शक्ति = तपश्शक्ति.

अनुनासिक सन्धि: म् + consonant = अनुनासिक

The combination of 'म्' with a consonant results in an अनुनासिक sound. Example: तम् + न = तन्न.

त्वागम सन्धि: अ/आ + छ = च्छ

The combination of 'अ' or 'आ' with 'छ' results in 'च्छ'. Example: सत् + छात्र = सच्छात्र.
