CBSE has set August 19, 2025, as the date for Career Orientation for Principals and Counselors of Shahjahanpur schools. Registration is available at no cost, however, slots are limited.
To help schools in/outside India develop effective academic and career counseling, the Central Board of Secondary Education has set up a Career Orientation Program for Principals and Counselors in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The program is set for August 19, 2025, at Seth M. R. Jaipuria School, Shahjahanpur, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Attendees are asked to arrive for check-in by 9:30 a.m. This session is designed to contribute towards the fulfilling vision of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages schools to adopt comprehensive career counseling frameworks and proactive career constellation awareness.
This is a further development to the national level implementation of the orientation workshops aimed at improving the instructional leadership CBSE had issued circulars on June 4 and June 18 of 2025 which focused on enhancing services provided to students. As the services provided to students are critical to their development as future leaders and thinkers, the CBSE will ensure that the decision-makers at the counsels and principal levels will have access to pertinent current information and relevant insights.
The orientation will give the school leadership the capability to provide integrated academic and career guidance to the students. Tailored career and further study pathways information, as well as internships and scholarships, will be made available for students from diverse backgrounds. One of the major emphases of the sessions is to ensure that the school counselling approaches align with the objectives of NEP 2020 which aspires to make education flexible and responsive for the holistic development of students.
Mr. Himanshu Gupta, the Secretary of CBSE, supported the claim that the training session is greater than policy alignment. It is actually a commitment to assist students in CBSE-affiliated schools, offering guidance that is practical and beneficial in the present and the future. Additionally, empowering principals and counsellors is vital in helping students in making informed decisions about their future career options, Mr. Gupta further added.
Teachers, counsellors, and school principals keen on attending the training are eligible to fill in a Google Form link shared by CBSE; however, they need to act quickly as there are only 100 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis. Selected participants will be informed via email. However, it is important to note that the board will not reimburse any travel expenses, and therefore, all participants will need to self-fund their travel and accommodation expenses.
CBSE has emailed all schools in the vicinity of Shahjahanpur about the program details and have encouraged the schools to revise their counseling practices to fit the national academic framework. Schools that still require the program details have been instructed to email cbsecareer.counseling@gmail.com.
Boarding schools in India have always adopted modern teaching strategies and new-age techniques for the holistic development of school children, focusing on the new-age skills required for children in the 21st century. Read the full circular here.
