Attention CBSE Students: A Crucial Update on Your Exam Data Submission

CBSE introduces new measures to allow corrections to Class 10 and 12 data, including names and subjects, to prevent future issues.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a new circular regarding the submission of student data for the upcoming Class 10 and 12 board exams for the 2025-26 session. The notice, dated September 17, 2025, serves as a reminder to all affiliated schools to ensure the accuracy of student information in the List of Candidates (LOC) to avoid complications later on.

What Schools Need to Check for Accuracy

The circular emphasizes that schools are responsible for ensuring several key data points are correct as per their official records, such as the Admission & Withdrawal Register. This includes:

  • Spelling of Names: The names of students, mothers, fathers, and guardians must be spelled correctly.

  • Date of Birth: The date of birth for each student must be accurate.

  • Subject Combinations and Codes: Schools must correctly select subject combinations and codes as per the official Scheme of Studies. The circular specifically highlights the importance of choosing the correct codes for subjects like

Hindi-A (002) vs. Hindi-B (085), Mathematics Standard (041) vs. Mathematics Basic (241) for Class 10, and English Core (301) vs. English Elective (001) and Mathematics (041) vs. Applied Mathematics (241) for Class 12.

New Measures to Prevent Errors and Allow Corrections

Recognizing the potential for mistakes, CBSE has introduced two significant measures to help schools and students ensure data accuracy:

1. Correction Window After Submission

Even if a school has already submitted and finalized the LOC data, they now have a grace period to make corrections. If a school realizes that any student's data was entered incorrectly, they can rectify it themselves before the final deadline for LOC submission. If this correction requires an additional fee, it must be paid online.

2. Student Data Verification Slips

After the final submission of the LOC, schools can generate a

data verification slip for each student. This is a new, crucial step where students can personally review their details. If a student or the school finds an error in their name, parents' names, date of birth, or subjects offered, it can be corrected during a specific window

from October 13, 2025, to October 27, 2025.

It is extremely important to note that no corrections will be allowed by the board after this period ends. This new window is the last opportunity for students to get their information right before the board finalizes it for the 2025-26 examinations.

Why This Matters for Students and Parents

This circular is a critical reminder for all students and their parents to double-check their details with the school. Mistakes in the LOC can lead to a host of problems later, including incorrect names on mark sheets and certificates. By taking advantage of the new data verification slip, students can ensure their official records are flawless.

The circular also serves as a general reminder to schools to maintain correct data for Class 9 and 11 registration as well.
