Understanding the LOC and APAAR ID Integration

The List of Candidates (LOC) is a mandatory administrative process for all CBSE-affiliated schools to officially register students who will appear for the Class 10th and 12th board examinations. This process is critical for the board to gather essential student and subject data, which is then used for various logistical tasks, including the creation of admit cards and the assignment of roll numbers. Timely and accurate submission is vital to ensure a smooth examination process for all students.

To further streamline this process, CBSE has mandated that schools link the student’s Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID to their LOC data. The APAAR ID is a unique, 12-digit identification number designed to serve as a student’s lifelong academic passport. This initiative, which aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to consolidate all of a student's academic achievements into a single, accessible digital repository.
