The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a vital circular outlining the process for submitting the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 and 12 main examinations for the 2025-26 session. This year's circular introduces several significant changes and strict deadlines that all affiliated schools must follow. The LOC submission is a critical step for students to appear in the board exams, and both schools and parents must ensure data accuracy to avoid future complications.
For the first time, the CBSE has introduced a two-Board Examination policy for Class 10. According to the circular, the first examination, scheduled for mid-February, is mandatory for all students. The LOC for this first examination must be filled out for all Class 10 candidates. The second board examination for Class 10 will be conducted in May 2026, and the LOC for it will be filled after the first exam is over. Students will be able to opt for the same subjects for the second examination as the ones they chose for the first.
The CBSE has decided to link the APAAR ID of all candidates for both Class 10 and 12 LOC data. For schools in India, the APAAR ID will be the primary identifier for students, and it will be validated by the Board during the LOC submission process. Schools located abroad, however, are exempt from this requirement due to various administrative and legal reasons.
This year, there are two distinct schedules for submitting the LOC based on the mode of payment. The deadline for fee payment is the same as the LOC submission deadline. A late fee of ₹2,000 per candidate will be applicable for payments made after the scheduled date. Visually impaired candidates are exempt from paying any examination fees.
Schools must take several preparatory actions to ensure the smooth submission of the LOC:
Data Collection: Schools need to gather correct personal details, including the candidate's name, parent/guardian's name, date of birth, and APAAR ID (for Indian schools).
Subject Confirmation: The correct subject code and combination must be double-checked and submitted as per the Scheme of Studies. Requests to change subjects after the LOC submission will not be accepted.
Student and Parent Briefing: Schools should hold detailed orientation meetings for Class 10 and 12 students and their parents. They must be informed about the importance of submitting correct data and the consequences of providing incorrect information.
CWSN Students: For Children with Special Needs (CWSN), a dedicated portal will be available. Schools must submit CWSN data before the LOC submission deadline to ensure these students receive applicable examination relaxations. After the last date, schools will not be able to add any new CWSN candidates.
The normal fee submission window is from
August 29, 2025, to September 30, 2025. The late fee window is from
October 3, 2025, to October 11, 2025. After the final submission, a data verification slip will be generated for each candidate. Corrections to names, dates of birth, or subjects will be allowed from
October 13, 2025, to October 27, 2025. No corrections will be permitted after this period.
The CBSE has also emphasized that the online submission portal will close at 11:59 PM on the last date, and no extensions will be granted. Schools are advised to submit the data well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
