The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a circular for the online registration of Class 9 and 11 students for the 2025-26 academic session. This year's process introduces several significant changes, with a strong focus on data accuracy and a new emphasis on the APAAR ID

The CBSE circular highlights four key changes that schools and students need to be aware of:
Two Board Exams for Class 10: As per the NEP-2020, CBSE has already notified that Class 10 students will have the option to take two board examinations. This new registration process is the first step in planning for this change.
Mandatory APAAR ID: For the first time, schools in India must link the APAAR ID of all Class 9 and 11 candidates to their registration data. This is part of the "One Nation, One Student ID" initiative, which aims to create a unified and lifelong academic identity for students. While schools are directed to obtain parental consent, they can mark "REFUSED" if consent is denied or "NOGEN" if the ID could not be generated for other reasons.
New Data Verification Process: To prevent errors, schools will now generate a data verification slip for each student after the initial registration deadline. Corrections to personal details like the student's name, parents' names, date of birth, or subjects can be made from
November 14, 2025, to November 28, 2025. The Board has stressed that no corrections will be allowed after this period.
Updated Fee Structure: The circular includes updated fee details for registration. The fee without a late fee is ₹320 for students in India, while the fee with a late fee is ₹2,320. The training fee has also been revised from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000. Visually impaired students are exempt from paying the registration fee.
Schools must adhere to a strict schedule for the registration process, as no extensions will be granted.
Registration without late fee: September 16, 2025 (Tuesday) to October 16, 2025 (Thursday).
Registration with late fee: October 17, 2025 (Friday) to October 31, 2025 (Friday).
Data Correction window: November 14, 2025, to November 28, 2025.
The board advises schools to submit the data well in advance to avoid last-minute issues like slow internet connections.
The circular provides detailed guidelines to ensure accurate data submission:
Accuracy is paramount: Schools must ensure that student details, including names, dates of birth, and subjects, are correct from the very beginning.
Internal checks: Principals should hold meetings with teachers to discuss the circular and ensure proper understanding of the instructions before submitting data. Briefing sessions should also be held with students and parents to explain the importance of correct data and the consequences of errors.
Subject combinations: Schools must offer subjects that have been permitted by the Board and follow the prescribed valid subject combinations as per the scheme of studies. Submitting students for unauthorized subjects could lead to disaffiliation proceedings against the school.
Submission process: The registration will be done through the Pariksha Sangam link on the CBSE website. Schools can submit data in a single lot or in multiple lots, but partial submission within a fee slab is not allowed.
No physical documents: The practice of sending signed copies of finalized data to the Regional Office has been discontinued. The online system now uses an e-signature linked with the Principal's Aadhaar.
By adhering to these instructions, schools can help ensure a smooth registration process and avoid future complications for students and parents.
