The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched a Psycho-Social Counseling Support program aimed at helping students manage examination stress and emotional well-being as they prepare for their Class X and XII exams.

On January 6, 2026, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the launch of its Psycho-Social Counseling Support program, designed to assist students in managing the pressures associated with their upcoming examinations. This initiative is particularly aimed at students in Classes X and XII, who often face significant stress during this critical period of their academic journey.
Examinations can be a source of anxiety and stress for many students. The pressure to perform well can lead to emotional distress, impacting not only their academic performance but also their overall well-being. Recognizing this, the CBSE has taken a proactive step to provide support that addresses both the psychological and emotional needs of students.
24×7 Toll-Free IVRS: Students can access round-the-clock support by calling 1800-11-8004. This service, available in both Hindi and English, offers practical guidance on stress-free preparation, effective time management, and answers to frequently asked questions related to examinations.
Tele-Counseling Services: From 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, students and parents can interact with a panel of 73 trained professionals, including principals, counselors, and psychologists. This diverse support network ensures that students receive the help they need, regardless of their location.
Digital Resources: The CBSE website features a curated collection of resources focused on stress management and effective study strategies. These resources are designed to be engaging and easily accessible, allowing students to find the information they need quickly.
The Psycho-Social Counseling Support program will run from January 6 to June 1, 2026, coinciding with the examination cycle for Classes X and XII. The initiative is structured to provide continuous support to students as they prepare for their theory exams, which are scheduled to begin on February 17, 2026.
Students and parents are encouraged to utilize these services as part of their preparation strategy. The toll-free IVRS is available at any time, allowing students to seek assistance whenever they feel overwhelmed. The tele-counseling services provide a more personalized approach, enabling students to discuss their concerns with trained professionals who can offer tailored advice and strategies.
Mental health plays a crucial role in a student's academic success. The pressures of school, coupled with personal challenges, can lead to significant emotional strain. By implementing the Psycho-Social Counseling Support program, the CBSE is not only addressing immediate concerns related to examinations but also fostering a culture of mental well-being within the educational system.
Enhanced Emotional Well-Being: Students will have access to resources that help them manage stress and anxiety, leading to improved emotional health.
Improved Academic Performance: With better mental health, students are likely to perform better academically, as they can focus more effectively on their studies.
Increased Awareness: The program raises awareness about the importance of mental health, encouraging students to prioritize their emotional well-being.
The launch of the Psycho-Social Counseling Support program by the CBSE marks a significant step towards ensuring the holistic well-being of students. By providing accessible resources and professional support, the CBSE is helping students navigate the challenges of examinations with greater confidence and resilience. As students prepare for their upcoming exams, they are encouraged to take advantage of these valuable resources to enhance their mental and emotional well-being.
