CBSE launches student participation in podcasts and social media

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a new step to make its digital initiatives more engaging by directly involving students. Through a circular issued on August 28, 2025, CBSE announced that it is inviting nominations from affiliated schools for students of Classes 9 to 12 to take part in its official podcasts and social media content.

These educational podcasts, already available on public platforms like YouTube, focus on academic and counseling matters. By adding student voices, CBSE aims to make its outreach more relatable and student-centric.

How students can participate

Schools have been asked to nominate students who are:

  • Articulate and confident in communication

  • Interested in participating in short video/audio interactions, testimonials, or conversations

  • Willing to share their perspectives on academic and counseling topics

Participation is entirely voluntary and requires written consent from both the student and their parents/guardians, submitted through the school.

Nominations, along with a brief profile of the student, must be submitted through the official Google Form here within 10 days of the circular’s issue.

Why this matters

This initiative provides students with a unique opportunity to:

  • Showcase their communication skills

  • Contribute to CBSE’s official digital presence

  • Share experiences and advice with peers across India

  • Gain exposure through CBSE’s widely accessed podcasts and social media platforms

By giving students a platform to express themselves, CBSE is encouraging a more participatory and inclusive approach to education communication.

What schools should do next

Principals and heads of schools have been urged to identify and guide interested students for this opportunity. Schools must ensure proper consent procedures are followed before forwarding nominations to CBSE.

The Board has emphasized that this is an optional enrichment opportunity, not a mandatory requirement, and is meant to foster student creativity and expression.
