Anticipating the raider’s next steps allows defenders to position themselves accurately. By skipping forward or taking a step forward, the defender can effectively cover the raider’s back while maintaining balance. This involves bending the upper body towards the raider, which keeps the momentum favoring the defender. The holding and execution phase is vital, where the defender must ensure there is no gap between themselves and the raider. The technique involves using the free hand to encircle the raider’s waist while the inner hand secures a firm grip. This goes hand in hand with maintaining balance and control throughout the execution process. Once the raider is caught, the follow-through action becomes crucial.
